SCAM 1992 & The War of Content in India

thegroomingcafe

From the spooky title track to simple but eye-catching lines like "Ishk hai to risk hai", Scam 1992 had it all. No wonder, it's the talk of the town. Harshad Mehta was not a very familiar name when I grew up but lately I got to know that the year I was going to come into this world, was going to be the most unfortunate year for him.

If I talk about the direction, Hansal Mehta is no surprise. A National Award (For me, these awards come under the controversial zone but yes it is a great achievement) winner, who has directed movies like Shahid, Citylights, etc. has gifted the public of India another best thing to watch. The details are so well lined that sometimes I feel that it is impossible for a 2-hour movie (The Big Bull) to justify the same content which was so well delivered in a 10 episodes series. Mukesh Chhabra has yet again proved why he is known as the Best Casting Man in the Film Industry. From Pratik Gandhi, the face of the Story to Shreya Dhanwanthary to presenting legends like Rajat Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, and Anant Mahadevan. A big surprise was Nikhil Dwivedi who delivered a mind-blowing performance. Coming back to talk about this young lad from Gujarat, Pratik Gandhi brings another justification to "Anyone can be Hero, only a few can be Actors". His straight face acting, which is very natural to him adds up perfectly for a character like Harshad Mehta. Basu and Dalal have together written a marvellous story and equally, Hansal has brought it beautifully on screen.

All I know now that the War of content is going to be much tougher because the public of India has started appreciating great stories. Days have gone that movies with Big heroes will get big numbers and real actors will only get appreciation but no fame. When Guru Dutt and Dilip Kumar started with Method Acting they received lots of appreciation but slowly this art was found going out of the Indian Hindi film industry. Later, actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Om Puri, Kamal Hassan, Paresh Rawal started mainstream method acting, which was carried on by Irrfan Khan, KK Menon, Manoj Bajpayee, Sanjay Mishra, Randeep Hooda and further was seen in Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkumar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, Pankaj Tripathi, Vineet Kumar. Nowadays due to the easy accessibility of the Internet, lots of good content and acting is getting their due. Series like Mirzapur, Sacred Games, Pataal Lok, Delhi crime, Asur, Kota Factory, Special Ops, Panchayat, Bandish Bandits, Scam 1992, etc. have proved that Indians have a great sense of good content. Young actors like Vikrant Massey, Radhika Apte, Jitendra Kumar, Sumit Vyas, Sayani Gupta, Pratik Gandhi, etc. make us believe that we really have some talented ones for the present and future. The grown-ups who got a little late success like Rajesh Talang, Sheeba Chaddha, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi, Gajraj Rao, Manu Rishi, Gopal Dutt, etc shows that One should keep on delivering and one day the sun rises.

Hope the Indian Hindi Film industry gets back its respect worldwide and people across the globe will start referring us the pool of talent like they do for our brains and IT magic. The War of Content is on in India and the most benefitted will be "We the People"
